What support are we able to offer you?
We provide free one to one, specialist suicide bereavement support for anyone aged 5 + years who has been impacted by a loss through suicide in Somerset.
The support sessions are usually weekly for up to an hour, and we can offer up to 6 sessions.
You will be supported by our qualified project staff or support volunteers. Currently, this is available at our office in Taunton or on an ad hoc basis at our monthly surgeries across Somerset. These are currently running in Yeovil and Bridgwater.
We are also able to offer online and Phone support.
In certain situations we are able to arrange specialist counselling support, this will be after an initial assessment with one of our Project Team
What happens in a support session?
During a support session, you will be given time and space to explore your loss and the complex feelings and emotions that you may be feeling after a suicide bereavement. We can also support you to look at how this may be impacting your day to day life, such as your coping and living skills, or your wider family and relationships as we know that everyone reacts to bereavement differently.
We recognise that talking about such complex feelings after a traumatic loss can be very difficult, and all our staff and volunteers are trained and skilled to be able to support you in a way that suits your needs. We will always try and match our support to your needs.
