If you're feeling like you want to die, it's important to tell someone.

Help and support is available right now if you need it. You don't have to struggle with difficult feelings alone. If you feel you can't keep yourself safe then we urge you to call 999 or take yourself to the nearest Accident and Emergency Department. Alternatively, ask someone else to call 999 on your behalf or ask them to take you to the nearest A&E Department or go to your local GP Surgery.

Worried About Someone Else?

If you're worried about someone else, try and get them to talk to you. Ask them about how they are feeling and offer the help that you can. Try and ask open ended questions like, "How do you feel about...?". Try to listen to what they have to say and taking it seriously can make a big difference. Talking to someone about their suicidal thoughts does not make them more likely to end their own life. Try to listen without judgement and help them to think about other options.

 

You may need to seek help from mental health professionals or by contacting the Emergency Services. Helping someone with suicidal thoughts is likely to have a profound impact on you, so ensure you have someone to talk to and that you have help available to you too. And remember, if someone decides to take their own life, it is not your fault.
